Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI)
As a Qualified Administrator of the IDI, I have assessed the intercultural development of hundreds of international students, post-secondary administrators, government employees, and private sector individuals from around the world. This is what they said about the experience:

Thank you for today’s session.
The session provided me with academic and practical knowledge.
I enjoyed it very much!
I got an opportunity to reflect on my intercultural development through the session.
I do not talk about intercultural experiences in my daily life, so it was a good chance to organize what I felt about the experiences.
In Canada, we often have intercultural communication and need to perceive the differences and similarities.
Then, as I mentioned in the session, we can find compromises. I really like this process you taught and try to implement the tip.

Thank you so much for the coaching session. Both the report and our conversation make me feel I have a lot to grow in terms of living in an intercultural environment. I mean leaving in a way that I understand better my own behaviour and other behaviours. This will be good not only for myself, but I want to be able to help my children that are starting their lives here, to have a better sense of what happens around them.

I find our discussion as a guide for me as an international student and as a person to evolve within Canada, protecting my own routes and values. Sometimes our own hidden fears, biases or opinions are the major drawbacks against our own development. This session encouraged me to use my critical thinking on my own to recognize the cultural person I am today and how to make myself better for tomorrow.

I enjoyed your lDI Coaching Session very much. It was such a pleasant experience for me. You made it so appealing, encouraging and unforgettable that I understood how I traveled through the intercultural development model. It's been the fastest one-hour session I've ever had! I wish I could have more cultural sessions with you.

I must confess the session was extremely enlightening and I gained so much awareness of where I am right now with regards to my developmental competence, as well as being able to distinguish between the perceived and developmental competence. I also understood that cultural differences are heavily about the underlying factors which are barely seen but is very important. Furthermore, I learnt that being aware of these cultural differences and actively trying to bridge the gap and figure out ways to achieve this is what really matters. Transitioning from a monocultural individual into an intercultural individual can only be achieved when we take out time to reminisce and meditate in factors that will improve or better these goals.

Ute; I enjoyed your friendly and open discussion and insight on cultural diversity.
The one-on-one session provided an inviting space to learn more about cultural differences and commonalities. The step by step review of the developmental continuum reinforced the fact that we can learn from each other's cultures; but we must first be open to having a level of understanding each other while allowing our culture to remain our main focus,
I plan to use this knowledge to be intentional about the way I interact with other cultures; creating opportunities to build bridges through sharing my culture, trusting that I have something to offer, while understanding and respecting other cultures.

It was nice talking to you. As I mentioned earlier as well, the discussion was an eye opener, and it was good to know about where I stand and how pro-actively work on adjusting to new country and still retain my own identity. And I think it's a very good tool/idea that can help people thrive and survive in professional environments where we are going to interact with diverse group of people.
I'll be going through the other document as well.
Will get back to you if I have any questions.

It was so good to talk to you today. I enjoyed the whole meeting time with you.
The main takeaway I would say was understanding the phases of intercultural development. Like we discussed in the meeting, I will pay attention to my daily performance. Maybe take a pause before the action to think about if I have the judgement between the culture and whether that was necessary.
Thanks again for your time and your detailed explanation throughout the meeting.

Today's meeting is excellent. Thank you so much for sharing this great understanding of intercultural development. The biggest take-away for me is that I am starting to understand the things I went through reflecting in the process and knew the appropriate with to deal with multiple cultural situations. I will definitely review my individual development plan and working on intercultural learning.

It is an amazing experience learning about my IDI profile, the result is absolutely surprising to see the difference between my perspective compared to others. I am willing to utilize the knowledge and information that I receive today to make myself and others feel more comfortable transitioning to a new culture.

Thank you so much for this great meeting today. I really appreciated your valuable and helpful answer to my "nightclub" question! It has confused me for a long time.
From today's meeting, I have learned the five steps from Monoculture to Interculture and what these five steps represent. I've assessed myself that maybe I'm in phase two and phase three. In addition, I also learn that, as I draw a letter from you: "Interculture development is a lifelong learning process", and even if we reach the final stage of adaptation, it does not mean that we need to completely change the habits brought by our original culture and completely imitate those of other cultures. I am very grateful for this meeting, which made me correct many stereotypes and correctly understand the importance of learning about Interculture development for our life and work. I really appreciated your time, lecture, and answer today! Thank you so much and wished all the best!
