Adult Educator, Instructional Designer

Carolyn Campbell

Carolyn is an instructional designer who creates learning experiences that people remember. She uses engagement and interaction to help people build on what they already know and go in new and fresh directions.

Carolyn enjoys helping people connect and build their confidence. As an instructional designer at the Nova Scotia Community College, she led the design, development, and facilitation of a program of three courses designed to support faculty to explore and teach in innovative ways. She co-facilitated a community of practice designed to offer faculty and staff regular opportunities to come together to share ideas, techniques, tools, and issues related to teaching and learning with technology. She gives regular workshops to help faculty practice strategies that promote active and interactive learning with technology.

She creates guides and resources to help faculty apply simple and practical strategies to improve their teaching. She’s developed hundreds of guides and resources that respond to the common issues that online faculty have.

She enjoys sharing ideas with others. She’s presented at the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) conference, the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STHLE) conference, and Conference on Information Technology, the Dal Teaching and Learning conference, and the Canadian Network for Innovation in Education (CNIE) Conference. She has supported presenters at Virtual World Best Practices in Education (VWBPE) and the International Disability Rights Affirmation Conference (IDRAC).

Before she was an instructional designer, Carolyn was a teacher. She taught adults how to use computers and children how to read and write.
